One arrested for stealing Railway passenger’s gold ornaments  

Mysuru:  City Railway Police have arrested a man on charges of stealing gold ornaments from Railway Passenger’s and recovered the stolen booty worth Rs. 1.2 lakh from him.

The accused has been identified as H. M Nagaraj, a resident of Hulivana village of Mandya district. He was produced before the Judge who remanded him to judicial custody.  

On Nov. 4 at 6 am, he was accused of lifted a vanity bag containing  valuables worth Rs. 1,33,400 including two mobile phones, two gold chains and Rs. 2,900 cash from  one Shirley of Wayanad district of Kerala when she was travelling along with her sister in Mysore- Ajmer Express train in compartment No. 3.

Based on the complaint filed by Shirley, Mysuru Railway Police Station Inspector N. Jayakumar conducted ‘Operation Cauvery’ exclusively to nab the purse lifters from railway passengers after registering a case.

On Nov. 13, the Police arrested Nagaraj when he was suspiciously moving in Cauvery Express Train. On interrogation, the accused spilled the beans and confessed about stealing the valuables. SI R. Jagadeesh, staff B.R. Beeresh, B.S.Mohan, Fayaz Khan, Manjunath and others took part in the nabbing operation.
