One arrested for selling liquor in vegetable shop

Mysuru: Yelwal Police have arrested a person on charges of selling liquor in a vegetable shop and have seized liquor bottles  from the shop.

The arrested person has been identified as 45-year-old R. Natesh, son of Ramanna, a resident of Janata Colony in Yelwal here.

As bars and liquor outlets on highways have been closed as per Supreme Court order, liquor is now being sold illegally in vegetable and grocery shops and the Police are taking stringent action against them.

Following a tip off that liquor was being sold at a vegetable shop in Janata Colony, Yelwal, the Police, on Saturday night raided the shop and found that liquor was indeed being sold in the vegetable shop and arrested Natesh besides seizing liquor bottles from the shop.

Sources said that many grocery shops on Mysuru-Hunsur Highway were selling liquor and the Police are planning to raid such shops and take action against those indulged in the illegal activity.

A case has been registered at Yelwal Police Station in  this regard.
