One held for attempting to sell deer meat

Mysuru: The Forest Mobile Squad personnel have arrested a 28-year-old man on charges of attempting to sell deer meat and have seized the deer meat, skin, antlers, deer head and legs from him.

The arrested is Shankar, a resident of Bagali village, Santhemarahalli hobli in Chamarajanagar taluk.

He was arrested while trying to sell the deer meat near Mugur Bus Stand in T. Narasipur taluk yesterday.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed that he had poached the deer at a forest and had brought its meat to sell.

Mysuru District Forest Mobile Squad Sub-Inspector Ravishankar, who has registered a case, is investigating.

Forest Mobile Squad staff M.B. Ramesh, Venkatachalaiah, Raghu, Narasimhamurthy, Manjunath, Cheluvaraj and Pradeep took part in the nabbing and seizing operation.
