One held for attempting to sell pangolin scales

Mysuru:  The Forest Mobile Squad personnel have arrested a person who was attempting to sell pangolin scales and have seized the scales weighing about  2.5 kg besides seizing two bikes used for the crime.

The arrested is 30-year-old Annappa, a native of Siddaiah Nagar in Hassan.

Acting on a tip off, Mysuru District Forest Mobile Squad In-charge Sub-Inspector M.B. Ramesh raided a house at Manchanahalli village in K.R. Nagar taluk on Tuesday night and arrested Annappa along with the pangolin scales, while his accomplice Dinesh, Joie and Salman have managed to escape.

The Forest Squad, who have registered a case under Forest Conservation and Wildlife Protection Act, have transferred the case to K.R. Nagar Range Forest Officer for investigation.

Mobile Forest Squad staff Venkatachalaiah, H. Narasimhamurthy, T.R. Raghu, Chaluvaraju, L. Manjunath and Driver Pradeep took part in the operation.
