One killed, seven injured as water tank explodes at a factory in Nanjangud

Nanjangud:  One labourer was killed while seven others sustained serious injuries when a water tank exploded at Parley Agro Tech Ltd. at Hadakanahalli Industrial Area in the taluk last night.

While the deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar (40), a native of Bihar, the seriously injured labourers, who have been admitted to JSS Hospital in Mysuru are Mallesh, Raju and Sudeep of Hadakanahalli village and Sumeet Kumar, Arjun, Abhay and Pradyumna of Bihar.

It is learnt that the water tank had a capacity to store 5,000 litres and the water tank exploded as more water was allegedly pumped into the tank.

Following the complaint from Amith Kumar, relative of deceased Arun Kumar, Nanjangud Rural Police have registered a case and are investigating.

The body of Arun was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary, where the post-mortem was conducted and the body was later handed over to his family members.

Circle Inspector Shivamurthy, SI Puneeth and staff visited the spot.
