One killed, two injured as lorry rams into Tata Ace and tipper

Mysuru: A lorry driver was killed on the spot, while two others sustained injuries when the lorry driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a Tata Ace and tipper vehicle on the Ring Road near Bharath Cancer Hospital, here yesterday evening.

While the deceased lorry driver has been identified as Naveen Kumar (30), a resident of Gowdalli, Srirangapatna taluk in Mandya district, the injured persons who were travelling in the Tata Ace vehicle have been identified as Ravi and Nagasundara.

Naveen, who was transporting a road roller in the lorry, was driving from Hinkal Signal Junction towards Bharath Cancer Hospital at high speed. He lost control of the vehicle near Rane Madras factory and rammed the vehicle into a Tata Ace and tipper vehicle, killing Naveen on the spot and the lorry again rammed into an electric pole before coming to a halt.

V.V. Puram Traffic Inspector Vivekananda and staff, who rushed to the spot, shifted the injured to a hospital and the body of Naveen to MMC&RI mortuary.

Meanwhile, V.V. Puram Traffic Inspector Vivekananda said that it is yet to be ascertained whether Naveen Kumar was a driver or cleaner and how many people were in the lorry, which would be known only after the owner of the lorry arrives.

V.V. Puram Traffic Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
