Online fraud: Student loses Rs. 1.95 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru: A conman, convincing a student to deposit money, become a selling merchant and earn good money through commission, has cheated the student of Rs. 1.95 lakh after getting the money transferred to his account.

The student, who fell prey to the online fraud, is 29-year-old H.B. Rashmi, a resident of Chamundeshwari Layout in city.

On May 13, Rashmi received a call in the afternoon and the caller, who introduced himself as Rahul Singh Tanvar, told her to become a selling merchant at an online shopping portal and earn handsome money through commission. He then got Rs. 1,95,549 transferred to his account and has cheated her, according to the complaint lodged with the Police. Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
