Open Source Lab at VVCE

Mysuru: An Open Source Lab, set up by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), was inaugurated in the college premises here recently by the chief guest, Dr. K.M. Anil Kumar, Professor, SJCE, Mysuru.

Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal, VVCE and Dr. A B Rajendra, HoD, CSE, VVCE, were present. The event was co-ordinated by Open Source Lab Co-ordinators Prof. K.N. Prashanth Kumar and Prof. V. Charunayana, Assistant Professors, CSE.

Dr. Anil Kumar, who presented a technical talk on Open Source Software and Hardware’, emphasised the importance of open source in IT industries and encouraged the students to accelerate the growth of the lab by contributing innovative projects.

The Open Source Lab is setup with a vision to create a community of excellent programmers and increase awareness about open source. Open Source Lab is open to all students and faculties of VVCE and will function as a library for open source software and hardware.  

During the event, the students of IV semester, CSE, demonstrated one of the innovative project ‘Remote Display’, developed using the Raspberry Pi 3 platform available in the lab.
