Mysuru: The Mysuru City Traffic Police, along with Civil Police personnel, who conducted ‘Operation Cheetah,’ a drive against traffic rules offenders from 4 pm to 7 pm on Nov.5, have booked 3,207 cases against violators and have also collected a total fine of Rs. 3,79,500 from them.
This apart, the Cops, who conducted a drive against drunken-driving from 8.30 pm to 12.30 am, have booked 63 cases against those who were found riding and driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
Two-wheeler lifter arrested
The Traffic Police, during the Operation at Nanjumalige coming under K.R. Police limits on the same day, arrested a person riding a Honda Dio scooter who tried to escape from them.
The arrested person has been identified as 23-year-old Vijay, a labourer and a native of Rajuru village, Hullahalli hobli in Nanjangud taluk.
When the Cops asked him to produce the documents of the scooter, Vijay failed to produce the same and on enquiry, the person is said to have told the Police that he had stolen the scooter at Ramachandra Agrahara coming under K.R. Police limits.
During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of lifting two Honda Dio, one Honda Activa, one Suzuki Access and one Scooty Pep scooter and also a Bajaj Pulsar bike from K.R., Saraswathipuram and Mandi Police limits in city and also from Mandya. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered six two-wheelers worth about Rs. 1.60 lakh from him. The accused has also a case of stealing sheep at Hullahalli Police Station.
DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and K.R. Sub-Division ACP Dharmappa supervised K.R. Police Inspector B.S. Prakash, SI Sunil, ASI Lakshminarayan and staff Subramani, Mukhadar Sharif and Madhu in the operation.
City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao in a press release, has urged the motorists to carry vehicle documents with them and produce them when asked by the Police.
