Operation stray cattle

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) staff, assisted by V.V. Puram Traffic Police have seized two cows which were found roaming freely on roads causing traffic problems at Jayalakshmipuram yesterday. Though MCC and Police are frequently warning cattle owners not to let cows freely on roads, cattle owners are not paying heed to the warnings and are letting their cattle roam freely on the roads resulting in accidents sometimes fatal.

Police sources said that they had written to the MCC after stray cattle were found roaming on streets and yesterday, the MCC staff, who arrived at the spot, found two cows wandering on the road in Jayalakshmipuram and with the help of the Traffic Police, seized two cows and took them to the MCC Animal Shelter. The cows would be released after their owners pay fine.

Police said that cattle owners should leave their animals for grazing only in fields and in empty spaces and should tie the cows. If cattle is found wandering on roads, they would be seized, the Cops added.
