Opposition Leader R. Ashoka hits out at Govt. on translation errors

December 31, 2024

Bengaluru: Opposition Leader R. Ashoka too has hit out against the State Government for the recurrence of translation errors in the KAS re-exam held on Sunday.

In a press statement released at Bengaluru on Monday, Ashoka alleged that the political interference of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had resulted in serious lapses on the part of KPSC in the conduct of KAS re-exam.

Charging the Congress Government of faltering even in proper conduct of re-exam, he maintained that apart from translation issues, there was a mix-up of OMR sheets and registration number of candidates.

Noting that only one lakh of the 2.10 lakh registered candidates appeared for the re-exam,  Ashoka claimed that the exam attendance percentage of candidates has dropped by over 15 percent in the re-exam. This goes to show that the aspirants have lost faith in the Congress Government and KPSC, he argued.

Asserting that the Congress Government’s political interference, corruption, nepotism and other such factors have been the cause for KPSC’s incompetence in the conduct of exams, he said the KPSC had spent a whopping Rs. 13.40 crore for the conduct of KAS exam in August this year and it is estimated that the Examination body has spent no less than the same amount of money for the re-exam held on Sunday.

Wondering what are the reasons for such serious lapses in the conduct of a very important exam, Ashoka wanted to know how lapses had occurred when the KPSC spent Rs. 5.3 crore for maintenance of exam paper secrecy. He also questioned the Government on why only the KPSC Secretary has been transferred, while there has been no action on the Controller of Exams, who is to be blamed for the mess.

He urged the Government to bring about transformational changes in the KPSC and give a new dimension for Government appointments with top priority for maintaining transparency.
