Orchestra artistes seek financial aid

Mysore/Mysuru: Orchestra singers, artistes and technicians, under the banner of Gaanagandharva Kalabalaga Trust, staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in city on Wednesday. The protestors demanded financial support from the Government as they are left with no other means of livelihood due to COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown.

Maintaining that they are facing a lot of hardships with no income for the past few months due to the lockdown, Orchestra singers, artistes and technicians wanted the Government to come to their rescue by announcing financial relief exclusively for them.

Alleging that the Government has been ignoring senior artistes by not granting them pension, the protesters urged the Government to immediately announce financial support in the absence of any earnings, so that they can meet their immediate expenses.

Gaanagandharva Kalabalaga Trust’s Mysuru District President Sowbhagya Prabhu, office-bearers Pradeep, J. Kumar, S. Saraswathi, Prakash, Abdul Khayyam, M. Raghu, J. Somashekar, S. Manjunath and others were present.
