Outsourced workers demand pay parity

September 29, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Members of Mysuru Nagara Palike Khayam hagu Guttige Pourakarmikara Maha Sangha staged protest opposite Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) this morning demanding regularisation of outsourced and contractual workers and hike in salary on par with permanent employees.

Protesters alleged that outsourced workers, including vehicle drivers and cleaners, working in MCC are getting a meagre salary while their counterparts, who are permanent workers, are earning a decent amount with regular increments.

They demanded regularisation of their jobs and salaries on par with permanent Pourakarmikas and urged the Administration to provide job security to Pourakarmikas working on contractual basis. Protesters later submitted a memorandum to MCC Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Biligiri Rangaswamy.

Association President N. Mara, General Secretary Srinivas and others were present.
