Over 200 heart patients undergo angioplasty at Jayadeva Hospital

Mysuru:  Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Director, Jayadeva Institute of Cardio-Vascular Sciences, Bengaluru, has said that Jayadeva Hospital in Mysuru had conducted an angioplasty workshop at the Hospital here recently. He said Karnataka was the only State to conduct such free angioplasty surgery and this has been going on for the past 10 years with assistance from USA-based NRI Dr. Subramani. He pointed out that free angioplasty surgery workshop had cost Rs. 2 crore.

Stating that patients who attended the workshop had come from far off States such as West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam and Uttar Pradesh, he said most of the patients were from economically weaker sections and were in the age group of 28 to 82 years.

Underlining the need for keeping off from addiction and bad habits, Dr. Manjunath said that one must understand that prevention was better than cure. Dr. Subramani, Dr. Ravindranath, Dr. Sadananda, Dr. Harsha Basappa, Dr. Panduranga and Dr. Santosh  led the workshop.
