Articulate Fest this evening

Articulate Festival, co-ordinated by Mysore B. Nagaraj, Managing Trustee,  Articulate Trust for Arts, is conducted on 3rd Sunday of every month. Accomplished Indian Classical dancers both from India and abroad take part in this festival.  

Today (Sunday, 21st October), in its 29th series, artistes are scheduled to perform in Odissi, Kathak and Bharatnatyam starting from 6 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Kuvempunagar. This series presents four solo performances —  Bharathanatyam by R. Ashitha and Vaangmayi Prasad, Odissi by Banashree Mohapatra, Kathak by Guru Durga Arya-Kruger from Germany.

Profiles       

ASHITHA:  A disciple of Karnataka Kalashree Guru Dr. Suparna Venkatesh, Ashitha has done her Rangapravesha  and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Bharathnatyam at the Bangalore University.

Accomplished in Kathak also, she has several performances to her credit as a solo artiste across the country.

VAANGMAYI PRASAD, under Guru Preethi Krishna, she completed her Junior exams and under Guru Dr. Soundarya Srivatsa completed her senior exams of the Karnataka Education Board.

BANASHREE MOHAPATRA is under the tutelage of Guru Madhulita Mohapatra at the  Nrutyantar Academy of Performing Arts, Bangalore in Odissi.

She had her earlier training under Guru Kalpana Thamba, Guru Anita Singhdeo and under Guru Manoranjan Pradhan in Odisha before she settled in Bangalore.

DURGA ARYA-KRUGER

After initial training under Guru Reba Vidhyarthi and Guru Munna Shukla, it was under Guru Sri Birju Maharaj that she blossomed into an accomplished Kathak artiste which took her world over in concerts and today she is standing tall among Kathak exponents. She has shared her Kathak artistry to many aspirants across the globe who themselves have carved a niche for themselves under her shadow and patronage.
