Over 2,000 turn up for MCC’s e-Aasthi drive

Mysuru: The special ‘Prajaseva’ e-Aasthi campaign launched by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has drawn a good response, with more than 2,000 citizens from all nine zones turning up at the MCC Main Office on Sayyaji Rao Road this morning.

Held at the Old Council Hall from 10 am to 1 pm under the supervision of Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is also the Administrator of MCC, the campaign offered property owners an opportunity to obtain e-Aasthi certificates for Rs. 175. The fee comprises a registration charge of Rs. 10 and a service charge of Rs. 165. Eligible applications will be processed within 72 hours after verification of the required documents.

By around noon, 534 e-Aasthi applications covering A-Khata and B-Khata had been procured, while another 100 applications were being processed.

Property owners from all nine zones gathered at the venue, where Revenue Inspectors and officials from respective zonal offices were present to facilitate the process. MCC has also begun processing Khata applications submitted online at the venue.

Before the campaign was organised, many applicants had applied online earlier but faced repeated delays, with officials asking them to return another day. According to officials, middlemen and certain officials had allegedly made applicants visit different offices repeatedly, in some cases for monetary gain.

The campaign was organised at a single location to address these difficulties and speed up the process. Citizens began arriving early in the morning and many came to clear pending applications and obtain their Khatas.

MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha described the response as encouraging. “The campaign was launched to ensure that citizens get their Khatas quickly and without having to wait for long periods or go through unnecessary bureaucratic procedures,” she told Star of Mysore.

The initiative aims to speed up issuance of Khatas, reduce repeated visits, keep middlemen out of process and curb opportunities for bribery. MCC is also looking to resolve applications at the venue itself, Savitha added.

The campaign was organised to spare citizens the trouble of visiting multiple offices and address complaints about delays in Khata issuance. The MCC is uploading applicants’ documents and issuing acknowledgements to ensure a smooth and transparent process. E-Khatas will be issued to eligible applicants within 72 hours. Another special drive will be held in about 10 days for applicants who do not have an Encumbrance Certificate (EC), allowing them to complete the formalities. We are also considering similar drives at individual Zonal Offices, with separate dates for each Zone, to make the service more accessible.
