One arrested; two goods vehicles seized
Mysuru: Kavalande Police have seized two goods vehicles which were illegally transporting cattle to slaughter houses and have rescued over 65 cattle besides arresting one person.
On July 28 at about 8 am, Kavalande Sub-Inspector B. Basavaraju received information that cattle were being transported in two goods vehicles following which the Cops barricaded Nanjangud-Chamarajanagar Road and began to check vehicles.
At about 8.30 am, Cops stopped two goods vehicles — KA-01-AG-4796 and KA-16-B-5714 — which came from Nanjangud side. The drivers of the two goods vehicles, who stopped the vehicles, fled from the spot.
The Police, on inspecting the two vehicles, saw over 65 cattle cramped inside the two vehicles and arrested the cleaner of one of the vehicles.
The arrested cleaner has been identified as 43-year-old Syed Javeed of Hosakere in Mysuru. On interrogating him, he is said to have told the Cops that the cattle were being transported from Mysuru to a slaughter house at Talawadi. One of the drivers, who fled from the spot, has been identified as 38-year-old Salman.
The Police, who rescued the cattle and seized the vehicles have registered a case and are investigating.
