Overseas players had to return home yesterday night: Govt. clarifies

Bengaluru: While many including the opposition parties have been critical over the urgency in organising felicitation ceremony for the RCB team yesterday, the Karnataka Government has issued a clarification stating that the event had to be planned in a short notice as the players were preoccupied and the overseas players were slated to return in the night to their home countries.

Speaking to media persons, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Naseer Ahmed, said, “No one had expected such a huge crowd at the Chinnaswamy stadium considering the fact that it had the capacity to accommodate 30,000 people. The felicitation event was organised in a short span of time as the players had prior engagements and the overseas players had to fly back. However, despite time constraints, arrangements were made up to the mark,” he added.
