Pack up & return to parent Department: Minister tells officers on deputation

Bengaluru: The services of Department of Animal Husbandry officers,  who are on deputation to other Departments will be withdrawn by July 31, said Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chavan.

In a press release here, he said however, this order was not applicable to those who were working in designated posts in Forest Department, Veterinary Sciences Colleges, BBMP, Boards/Corporations, which come under the Department of Animal Husbandry, working as veterinarians and staff in other Departments. Others will have to return to their parent department before July 31, due to staff shortage. All Ministers, MLAs and MLCs have been requested not to entertain request from any officer seeking help to retain in the current post.

The Minister said that shortage of staff due to deputation has hampered service to farmers, cattle owners and cattle transporters.

“The staff from our Department can work in other Departments as veterinarians, but others cannot treat animals in our department. You have sworn to serve the animals while studying in colleges. You reserve your service for animals and not for others,” the Minister said.

Chavan said henceforth, there will be no deputation of staff to other Departments since they had to implement a lot of schemes.

Vaccination drive of animals had taken a beating due to shortage of staff and officers have to  attend telephone calls from farmers on various issues, he added.
