Mysuru: City’s well- known wrestler and former President of Dasara Wrestling Committee Pailwan Amrut Purohit (64) passed away at his residence at Nimishamba Layout in Vivekanandanagar here yesterday.
He leaves behind his wife, two sons and a host of relatives and friends.
Amrut trained and practiced traditional wrestling at many garadis (wrestling houses) including at K.G. Koppal Garadi and took part in various competitions including Dasara Wrestling competitions and had won many prizes.
He had also served as President of Dasara Wrestling Committee and had trained many youths in traditional wrestling.
Last rites were performed at the foot of Chamundi Hill this noon, according to family sources.
