Mysore/Mysuru: Commissioner A. Devaraju of the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage said the conservation of the temple wall paintings has already been entrusted to Deccan Heritage Foundation through a finalised tender process.
“The work order has been issued and the team comprises skilled experts,” he said. As the temple comes under the jurisdiction of the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple Development Authority, the Department has sought formal permission to take up the conservation work. Once approval is granted, restoration is expected to begin immediately and be completed within two months.
Devaraju further said that restoration of the murals on the inner walls of the Svetavarahaswamy Temple would also be taken up later this year. “Only certain portions of the paintings, including ornaments and facial features, have been damaged. The conservation team will carefully restore these sections,” he said.
The team would refer to books at the Palace Library to recreate and repaint the missing portions of murals.
