Mysuru: Noted Cartoonist B.V. Panduranga Rao was invited to participate in the International Cartoon Invitational Exhibition held at Tirzah Tofu Art Museum, China, recently.
His submitted cartoon and his outstanding achievements were displayed at the exhibition. He was presented with a Memento, ‘Certificate of Exhibition’ and gift hamper by the organisers.
It was a matter of pride for the 82-year-old, as he was the only Cartoonist to be invited from the country and was one among other 37 leading eminent Cartoonists from 25 countries around the globe to participate in this prestigious International Exhibition. In all, there were 64 cartoons on display.
Rao has participated in over 350 international cartoon contest since 1996 and has won numerous awards and his works were selected for exhibitions and museums in over 50 countries. He is accredited with 14 Limca Book, 15 India Book and 14 World Records. Recently, he was awarded Hon. Doctorate by World Culture & Environment Protection Commission, New Delhi, for his contribution in cartooning and environmental awareness. A retired Engineer from Bhilai Steel Plant and a Hobby Cartoonist for the past 56 years, Rao was born in Mysuru and studied in Chamundipuram Middle School and Hardwicke High School before continuing his studies in Bengaluru.
