Papon’s folk-fusion band entertains gathering at Yuva Dasara

Singer, composer and record producer from Assam, Angarag Mahanta, known by his stagename Papon, performing at Maharaja’s College Grounds yesterday as part of Yuva Dasara.

Mysuru: A folk-fusion band, led by popular music composer from Assam  Angarag Mahanta, popularly known as Papon, presented a music programme as part of Yuva Dasara at Maharaja’s College Grounds here last evening. The event was organised by Coke Studio.

Despite the continuous rain, hundreds of people at the ground were entertained with lilting melodies.

Commencing the programme, Papon rendered ‘Khud Se Dil Dar Sa Gaya Hai’ and in between lines greeted the crowd ‘Namaskara Mysuru, hegiddira’ in Kannada inviting a thunderous applause. Later he sang many bollywood songs and also rendered a couple of Assami and Punjabi songs playing on the guitar with foot-tapping beats.

Earlier to that, Freakrazzz Dance Academy, Mysuru, artistes presented a dance programme

Hejjenaada troupe from Mangaluru presented a music-dance programme on national integration. College students from Mysuru, Mandya, Talakad and other places also presented cultural programmes.
