Hunsur: Hunsur Rural Police have arrested a person on charges of murdering his lover and absconding since then.
The arrested has been identified as 23-year-old Madesh alias Poojari Mahadeva, a resident of Mangaluru Mala in the taluk. The woman, who was murdered, has been identified as Geetha (30), wife of Raju alias Rajegowda of the same village.
It is reported that Madesh had an illicit affair with Geetha, but Geetha had an affair with another person, which irked Madesh.
Though Madesh is said to have told Geetha to stop seeing the other person, Geetha did not listen to him, which angered Madesh. He then took her near a canal on Nov.1 and questioned her, but Geetha is said to have scolded him for questioning her, resulting in Madesh taking a rope and allegedly strangulating her to death.
The Police, who got information that Madesh would be coming to a wine stores in Hanagodu, waited for him and nabbed him when Madesh arrived at the wine stores and remanded him to Judicial custody.
SP Ravi D. Channannavar and ASP Rudramuni supervised Dy.SP Bhaskar Rai, Circle Inspector K.C. Poovaiah, SI Puttaswamy, ASI Surendrajit and staff Lokesh, Santosh, Dinesh, Swamy and Ravi in the nabbing operation.
