Parents of Pvt. Schools plan protest over fees row

January 29, 2021

Bengaluru: Parents of students studying in Private Schools have planned a protest on Jan. 31 against the failure of Department of Public Instruction to fix the fee for private educational institutions across the State.

The protest would be held under the aegis of Karnataka Private School Parents Associations Coordination Committee.

B.S.Yogananda, member of the Committee, has accused Primary and Secondary Education Minister S.Suresh Kumar of showing negligence in addressing this issue. A few school managements have agreed to slash the fees by 20 to 25 percent. But, the parents have demanded a cut of 75 percent in fees since online classes had been held in the last few months. In the name of online classes, many schools have collected hefty sum from parents, he added.

Discussion with CM

Meanwhile, Suresh Kumar has said he would talk to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in this regard.

A suitable decision on the fees will be decided at the earliest, the Minister noted.
