Paridrishya: Intl. Festival of Short Films, Documentaries from Feb.1

Mysuru: Mysuru Cinema Society (MCS) has organised ‘Paridrishya’ – the 3rd International Festival of Short Films and Documentaries at Kaveri and Nala auditoriums of Karnataka State Open University  (KSOU) in the city on Feb.1 and 2 from 10 am to 7 pm.

Speaking on the occasion, MCS Secretary Padmavathi S. Bhat said that the Festival is being organised in association with Bharatiya Chitra Sadhna.

‘Paridrishya’ has received 3,123 short films and documentaries from 109 countries, Padmavathi said adding that awards will be given in 26 categories to films selected by a jury of experts from the field.

“We have received 985 short films from India, 42 from Iran, 138 from France, 5 from Italy, 108 from Germany, 88 from Russia and 82 from USA. Besides, 73 Kannada short films and documentaries will also be featuring in the International Festival,” she  added.

MCS Coordinator  G.R. Chethan, who also spoke, said that renowned actor and theatre person Dr. Prakash Belawadi, Writer, Director and Producer Prithvi Konanur, writer Manek Premchand,  KSOU VC Prof. Sharanappa V. Halse and MCS President Dr. C.R. Chandrashekar will take part in the inaugural ceremony to be held at 10 am on Feb. 1 at Kaveri auditorium.

Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, will be participating in the valedictory on Feb. 2 at 4 pm at Kaveri auditorium. Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar and actor Suneel  Puranik will be present.
