Members of the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of SC and ST, comprising Members from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, seen during their visit to the Golden Temple in Bylakuppe yesterday.
Kushalnagar – A Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, comprising Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, arrived in Kodagu yesterday as part of its official tour to Ooty, Kodagu and Mangaluru from June 5 to 10.
The delegation held an initial official engagement in Mangaluru before proceeding to Kodagu district. As part of their visit, the Committee members toured the Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple) at Bylakuppe, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in India.
The members were received by monastery authorities, who expressed gratitude for the visit and interaction. Following the monastery visit, the delegation reached Madikeri and checked into a resort, where they are staying for their district-level engagements. The team is scheduled to return to Mangaluru after completing its programme.
The Lok Sabha members in the delegation include Dr. Faggan Singh Kulaste, Dr. Mallu Ravi, Parbhubhai Nagarbhai Vasava, Arun Kumar Sagar, Jagannath Sarkar, Alok Kumar Suman, Harish Chandra Meena, Govind Makthappa Kajol, Daggumalla Prasada Rao and Chandra Sekhar. The Rajya Sabha members include P. Wilson, Mithlesh Kumar, Dr. V. Sivadasan, Mamata Thakur and Devendra Pratap Singh.
Officials of the Parliamentary Committee are accompanying the delegation.
Monastery authorities described the visit as a ‘great privilege’ and conveyed their appreciation to the members and officials, wishing them continued success in their service to the nation.
