Youth should utilise modern technology to take Kannada literature, history and culture to the new generation: District Minister

Mysuru: Mysuru District in-Charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah called for increasing the use of Kannada language in the digital age and fostering its development in the fields of Science, Technology and Administration.

He was speaking after hoisting the Kannada flag and offering floral tributes to the statue of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, to mark the 71st  Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations organised by the District Administration at Oval Grounds here yesterday.

Appealing the people to encourage their children to learn Kannada not only as a mother-tongue but also to enhance their knowledge in a technology-driven society, he said that the Government too has initiated measures for the growth of Kannada language in the digital world, besides ensuring the availability of textbooks in Kannada language for Kannada-medium students studying Engineering, Medical and other professional courses.

“In today’s digital age, increasing the usage of Kannada is crucial. Latest  information related to Science, Technology, Medicine, Law and Administration must be made available in Kannada, he said adding that youths must undertake new innovations in Kannada and open new avenues for entrepreneurship, research and creativity,” he said.

Maintaining that love for Kannada should be reflected in our daily lives, Dr. Yathindra said, it is the responsibility of every Kannadiga to speak in Kannada with children at home, read Kannada books and promote Kannada literature and art. Regardless of our profession or where we are, if we speak and transact in Kannada, then the language will grow on its own, he noted.

“Today’s youth should utilise modern technology to take Kannada literature, history and culture to the new generation. They must cultivate the habit of writing, reading, researching and sharing new ideas in Kannada, while promoting its proper usage on social media,” he pointed out.
