Pattabhirama Pandit to perform at RAAGA’s 50th concert on Saturday

June 16, 2017

To mark its 50th concert, RAAGA Music Academy is featuring acclaimed vocalist Vid. Pattabhirama Pandit on Saturday, 17th June at 6pm, at Mysuru Vasudevacharya Bhavana, Nadabrahma Sangeeta Sabha, JLB Road, Mysuru.

Hailing from a family of musicians, Pandit was initiated into music at the age of 3 years by his mother M.S. Nagarathna. He had his initial training from Vallabham Kalyana Sundaram and Sangita Kalanidhi Dr. S. Ramanathan. He later came under the tutelage of Padmashri Prof. K.V. Narayanaswamy and now Padma Narayanaswamy is guiding him.

Pandit’s music is known for its strict adherence to sampradaya and purity in presentations, while being robust at the same time. There is that unmistakable KVN style in his singing but has his own unique “No care whatsoever” presentation with total involvement. His high energy level is so infectious that it’s rare not to be pulled in to the overall uplifting experience.

He has performed in almost all major sabhas, both national and international. Graded ‘A’ at AIR Trichy, he has won numerous awards and recognitions like the Yuva Purandara award, Ustad Bismillah Khan Memorial award from the Central Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi, Nadajyothi Puraskara, Nadachintamani, Ganakalashri from the Karnataka Ganakala Parishath, Bengaluru.

On Saturday, he is being accompanied by an eminent team comprising Vid. Mathur Srinidhi on the violin, Vid. H.S. Sudhindra on the mrudangam and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on the ghatam.

The concert is sponsored by Vijay Foundation in memory of Jayanthi Pai and Vidu. Koviladi R. Kala in memory of her father Vid. Guru Koviladi K. Rangarajan.
