Rotary Ivory City organises ‘PBS-SPB Musical Nite’ to raise funds for school building
Mysuru: While the cricket buffs were glued to watch India taking on Pakistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy, music lovers in the city were treated with some of the best Kannada songs originally rendered by legendary singers P.B. Srinivas (PBS) and S.P. Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) during the ‘PBS-SPB Musical Nite’ at Kalamandira here yesterday.
The programme, organised by Rotary Ivory City Mysuru to raise Rs. 12 lakh for the construction of compound and installation of gate at Sarvajanika High School atop Chamundi Hill, witnessed Rtn. V.N. Prasad and troupe rendering yesteryear Kannada movie songs taking the audience back to the golden era of Kannada cinema.
Along with V.N. Prasad, Dr. M.S. Natashekar, Thyagaraj, Jayanthi Bhat, Hamsini Kumar and Ruthvik Raj entertained the audience with more than 25 songs including ‘Teredide Mane…’ from ‘Hosa Belaku’, ‘Aaseya Bhava Olavina Jeeva…’ from ‘Mangalya Bhaya’, ‘Kodagina Kaveri…’ from ‘Sharapanjara’, ‘Navaduva Nudiye Kannada Nudi…’ from ‘Gandhada Gudi’, ‘Aakashave Beelali Mele…’ from ‘Nyayave Devaru’ among others. While singers rendered the songs, videos of the songs were relayed on the LED screen installed in the background. Shanti Bharadwaj compered the programme.
