Mysuru: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Meenakshi Negi, who has been camping in Mysuru since yesterday, visited Aranya Bhavan at Ashokapuram in city this morning and enquired about the elephants health condition of Dasara jumbos.
Meenakshi Negi was also briefed about tomorrow’s event at Mysore Palace during which the Dasara jumbos will be given a grand welcome by the District Administration in the presence of Forest, Environment and Ecology Minister Ramalinga Reddy and District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
The PCCF also spoke to mahouts and kavadis and enquired about the facilities being provided to them at the Aranya Bhavan. Later, she also instructed mahouts to ensure the elephants are taken good care during their stay in Mysuru.
Later, Meenakshi Negi also held a meeting with senior Forest Department officials to discuss various topics including man-animal conflicts being reported in Mysuru region which includes Nanjangud, Sargur, H.D. Kote and Hunsur among other places.
The meeting discussed on the regions where incidents of man-animal conflicts are being reported and also about wild animals causing problems to the villagers in the forest fringes. She also sought information about the compensation being granted to victims in man-animal conflicts so far and also about the complaints being received from the public.
Following the Mysore Palace event tomorrow, Minister Ramalinga Reddy will be holding a progress review meeting at Kodagu during which the issues related to Mysuru region are expected to be discussed.
Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. S.S. Ravishankar, Chief Conservator of Forest and Project Tiger Director Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, Conservator of Forest Prabhakar, Deputy Conservator of Forest (Mysuru) K. Paramesh, Deputy Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Dr. I.B. Prabhu Gowda and other seniors officials were present.
