Pesestrian killed as bus rams into house

Malavalli: In a bizarre road mishap, a pedestrian was killed while four others were injured when a KSRTC bus rammed into a roadside house at Malavalli town early  this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mahadevu (45), working as a waterman at Malavalli town.

The KSRTC bus was proceeding from Kollegal to Bengaluru at about 5.30 am, when the bus driver, while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian, who suddenly came on the way, rammed into two electric poles and then crashed into a roadside house.

As a result, Mahadevu, who was walking to work, died on the spot, while Sarvamangala and Nagarathna, who were sleeping inside the house and two bus passengers namely Mahadevamma and Shruti sustained grievous injuries.

All the injured were rushed to Malavalli General Hospital. A major part of the house is said to have been damaged in the mishap.

The Malavalli town Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
