Petty quarrel ends with murder

Nanjangud: A quarrel over petty reason between two persons, ended with a murder of one of them at Geekahalli village in Nanjangud taluk yesterday. The murder victim has been identified as Madhukumar (31), son of late Kempanna of the village and the accused is Raju, also of the same village, who is now in Police custody.

Madhukumar, who was residing with his wife Shilpa, mother Gowramma and two daughters in a rented house at Kadakola, had come to Geekahalli along with his family on Tuesday following ‘Pitrupaksha.’ Yesterday, when he was sitting in front of his house, Raju is said to have picked up a quarrel and reportedly abused him using foul language. But when Madhukumar went to Raju’s house to question about it, Raju is said to have assaulted Madhukumar with a wooden log, resulting in Madhukumar sustaining serious injuries on his head. Madhukumar’s family members, who rushed to the spot, shifted him to Nanjangud Taluk Hospital, where he was provided first-aid and was later shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, but he had breathed his last mid way, it is learnt. The Police have taken accused Raju into their custody and a case has been registered at Biligere Police Station.
