Mysore/Mysuru: In a swift and timely response, a dog which was struck by a high-speed train in Arsikere was rescued and has been relocated to Mysuru for medical care.
Shubham Sikar, a railway employee, alerted People For Animals (PFA), Mysuru, about the incident on the evening of Nov. 17.
The Vande Bharat train had hit the dog approximately 135 kms from Mysuru. PFA immediately dispatched an ambulance, including Dr. Amardeep, a veterinarian, and Murthy, an ambulance staff member, to Arsikere.
The journey from Mysuru to Arsikere took around 3 hours and 30 minutes. Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered the dog still alive but in distress. On-site medical attention was provided to the injured dog, followed by its safe transportation back to Mysuru.
The injured canine received prompt medical attention and an X-ray revealed a spinal injury, and the veterinary team administered pain-killers and neurobion injections to alleviate the suffering and enhance the recovery process.
“PFA remains committed to the well-being of animals in distress and this incident underscores the importance of a prompt and decisive response,” said a press release from PFA.
The condition of the dog and its recovery was being monitored, it added.
