PG medicos demand hike in stipend

August 13, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: The Post-Graduate (PG) students, who are doing their internship at K.R. Hospital, staged a silent protest by wearing black bands on their arms demanding increase in stipend amount and other allowances.

The PG medicos however discharged their duties and worked as usual in Out Patients Department (OPD) and other designated Departments of the Hospital.

“Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) had promised that our demands will be implemented during our similar protest last year. But nothing has been done so far. We are staging the silent protest without disrupting our regular work and causing inconvenience to the patients,” said one of the protesting PG students.

The PG students drew the attention of the MMC&RI authorities by holding placards like ‘We Resuscitate, Our Stipend Suffocate,’ ‘Protest for Stipend Raise,’ ‘Sympathy will Not Pay Our Bills,’ ‘Sarkarada Sahavasa Vethanavillada Upvasa’ and ‘Shoshane Nillisi, Namma Allowance Bagge  Gamanisi,’ among others.
