Bengaluru: A photography exhibition by A.C. Arun Kumar Raj Urs and his wife Namratha Urs, on the topic ‘Night N’Day Pollinators from the Western Ghats – Moths & Butterflies’ is being held at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Kumarapark East.
The expo is organised by Arun Kumar Raj Urs in memory of his father A.R. Chamappaji Urs, (great grandson of Arepur Bakshi Basappaji Urs, who was the brother-in-law, mentor and guardian to Chamarajendra Wadiyar X).
The exhibition was inaugurated by Malleshwaram MLA and former Dy.CM Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan on Feb.11. It will be open till Feb. 16 from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.
During the inauguration of photo exhibition, the guests of honour were Parishath President B.L. Shankar, Vice-Presidents K.S. Appajaiah and T. Prabhakar and General Secretary S.N. Shashidhar. Dr. Krushnamegh Kunte, Associate Professor, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Bengaluru, was the guest speaker.
Arun Kumar is an architectural photographer while Namratha is a former software professional, with a common interest in butterfly.
Arun Kumar has dedicated his life to the wildlife studies for about 30 years, and the study of three pairs of Black Eagle for last 25 years has been commendable. For the last 12 years, he has been monitoring the butterfly migration and their routes.
While Namratha has been in the realm of understanding and documenting butterflies for the past eight years.
