Physically-challenged employees demand pay hike and job regularisation

Mysuru: The physically-challenged of rural areas, who have been working in various Government Departments, have submitted a five-point memorandum to Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep seeking regularisation of their jobs and pay hike.

Speaking to media persons, President of the Federation of Village Rehabilitation Workers (VRW) and Multi-purpose Rehabilitation Workers (MRW), Bhaskar, said that five percent of the total population of our State were physically-challenged and during 2007-08, the State Government had identified few physically-challenged under the rehabilitation programme and had provided jobs for meagre salary.

He added the people working under VRW are being paid Rs. 3,000 and those working under MRW are being paid Rs. 6,000.

“We have been demanding to fix minimum wage and regularise our job. The Department must also promote the employees working under VRM and MRW considering their experience,” said Bhaskar.
