‘Physically challenged people are unaware of Govt. schemes’

Mysuru: Rotary Mysore Midtown, in association with National Association for the Blind (NAB), Bengaluru, had organised a function at Industrial Training Institute for Blind and Deaf in city recently for presentation of certificates to trainees.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Radha, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare, said that the Government had implemented several schemes for the welfare of physically-challenged people and 3% of the funds at Gram Panchayats, Taluk Panchayats, Zilla Panchayats and City Corporations were reserved for that purpose. However, she observed that many of such people were unaware of those schemes. She suggested associations in that field to create awareness among physically-challenged people on Government schemes.

  2. Somalatha, Deputy Director, Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, N. Narendra Babu, President, Rotary Mysore Midtown, M.S. Naveen Chandra, Secretary, Dr. Ramesh, Vice-President, NAB, A. Srinivas, Manager and others were present during the programme.
