Physically challenged persons protest

Mysore/Mysuru: Urging for fulfilment of various demands, more than 50 physically challenged persons, under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Vikalachethana Vyakthigala, Hakkugala Horata Samithi, staged a protest in front of Mysuru District Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Challenged at Tilaknagar here this morning. Their demands included full implementation of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 of the Centre in Karnataka, formation of a separate Ministry for the disabled and provide Rs. 10,000 COVID package for the disabled persons.

The protestors alleged that the monthly Social Security Pension being given to them has not been given since a year and urged the Government to conduct the monthly grievances meeting chaired by the DC.

Nanjangud Taluk Physically Challenged Federation President Mallegowda, Karnataka Blind Persons Association General Secretary K. Mahesh, Girish, Prasanna, Ganesh, Chandrakumar, Shivakumar, Sujatha, Shakuntala Girish and others were present.
