Pillion rider killed as car collides head-on with bike

K.R. Pet: A man riding pillion on a bike was killed on the spot when a car collided head-on with the bike near the bridge at Murukanahalli in the taluk yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as tender coconut loader Chikkannagowda alias Kullappa (64), a resident of Murukanahalli. 

Bike rider identified as Tirumala, who has sustained serious injuries, has been shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru.

Tirumala and Kullappa were proceeding on the bike to the tender coconut market at K.R. Pet APMC Yard, when a Maruti Swift Car, proceeding towards Mysuru, collided head on with the bike killing Kullappa on the spot and seriously injuring Tirumala, the bike and the front portion of the car has been badly damaged due to the impact.

K.R. Pet Rural Inspector K.R. Niranjan, Sub-Inspector Suresh and staff visited the spot, conducted mahazar and have registered a case. While Tirumala was shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru for treatment, the body of Kullappa was shifted to Dundashettylakshmamma Memorial General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

K.R. Pet Rural Police, who have registered a case,  are investigating.
