Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), headed by Commissioner M.K. Savitha, is leaving no stone unturned to make all Dasara venues including Food Mela, single-use plastic-free for protecting environment and maintaining cleanliness of the city besides ensuring flex-free Dasara this year.
In a press release, the MCC Commissioner has directed organisers to use sustainable environment-friendly alternatives.
She has asked the Deputy Special Officer of Dasara Food Mela to avoid single-use plastic and maintain cleanliness. She has also directed not to use, sell or provide single-use plastic, thermocol plates, cups, spoons or forks. Instead eco-friendly alternatives should be used.
Customers must be encouraged to bring cloth bags. To reduce burden of plastic waste, people must use reusable water bottles. Dumping waste to sewage and public places is prohibited.
MCC will carry out regular inspection across city and action will be taken against those failing to comply with the guidelines. MCC has urged visitors to co-operate in keeping the city plastic-free.
