This is in response to the news item titled “MUDA seeks NRN’s help” (SOM dated Aug.9). My morning routine of fetching milk gets me walking down 3rd Cross, V.V. Mohalla, past ‘Kowmudi,’ the very simple yet very beautiful house of Dr. N.R. Narayana Murthy (NRN), but the Avenue itself is very ordinary.
It is time the citizens of Mysuru, MUDA and MCC, who often expect the Murthys to contribute for beautifying Mysuru, think of paying tribute to this remarkable couple.
It is my suggestion that we name this road as “Dr. Sudha Murty Marga” and develop it as a model Avenue in consultation and help from Infosys. The old world charm should not be scarified at the alter of development.
When it is fully developed, I hope I will still find the mini local dairies with all those lovely calves and cows in modern enclosures doing justice to the names ‘Gokulam,’ ‘Yadavagiri’ and ‘V.V. Mohalla.’
I feel the age-old Temple Administrations should be roped in and available space in now defunct ‘Conservancy Lanes,’ used for the purpose in a proper manner.
