Plea to evict footpath encroachers across city

Sir,

Kudos to the district administration for the bold step taken to clear unauthorised shops atop Chamundi Hill including the ones illegally allotted to Government servants and kins of VVIPs. This is carried out despite the pressure from powerful lobbies.

We the citizens would look (dream!) for a similar action from the administration to vacate the illegally occupied footpaths of Sayyaji Rao Road, especially between K.R. Circle and Ayurveda College Circle (Vishveshwaraiah Circle), around Chikka Gadiyara (Dufferin Clock Tower) and inside the (heritage!) Devaraja Market by the vendors, shop-keepers and establishments. This will be a great service by the district administration to the common public and pedestrians.

Though powerful lobbies will naturally obstruct any such moves by the administration for obvious reasons, I urge the District In-charge Minister V. Somanna to overcome these lobbies with a firm hand and come to the rescue of the rightful users of these public spaces.
