Plea to include dialysis under Universal Health Scheme

Mysuru: Patients undergoing dialysis treatment have condemned the State Government for not including dialysis under ‘Ayushman Bharat – Arogya Karnataka’ (ABARK) Universal Health Coverage scheme.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Monday, social activist G.M. Raghu alleged that the Private Hospitals are denying dialysis treatment to the needy patients as the Government has removed the treatment under the scheme.

He said that a patient must undergo dialysis treatment twice or thrice a week which costs about Rs.24,000 for a month-long treatment in Private Hospitals.

Stating that poor patients cannot afford the treatment in Private Hospitals, Raghu has urged the State Government to include dialysis treatment under ABARK Scheme.
