Mysore/Mysuru: Former Corporator K.C. Showkath Pasha has urged the State Government to bifurcate the existing Udayagiri Police Station and establish a new Udayagiri North Police Station at the earliest.
In a statement, he said the Narasimharaja Sub-Division has four Police Stations: Jayalakshmipuram, V.V. Puram, Mandi Mohalla and Narasimharaja, covering about 28,000 properties. In contrast, Udayagiri Police Station alone has jurisdiction over nearly 33,000 properties and a dense population.
He said that despite a rise in crime and a report submitted by MLA Tanveer Sait, along with an allocation of Rs. 2 crore from the MLA Fund for the Police Department, no action has been taken so far.
Pasha warned that if the Law and Order situation deteriorates, the State Government would be responsible.
He urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar to implement the Cabinet decision on bifurcation and issue orders to open the new Police Station at the earliest.
