Mysore/Mysuru: Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case against a couple on charges of cheating two banks. The couple had pledged the same property documents in two banks and had obtained loans.

The couple, against whom the case has been registered, is M.P. Niranjan and H.S. Nandini, residents of J.P. Nagar in city.

The case was registered following a complaint from Bank of Baroda, Saraswathipuram Branch Manager Yogesh.

The couple had pledged the original property documents in Bank of Baroda, Saraswathipuram Branch in 2016 and had obtained a loan of Rs. 49.99 lakh. As they had not paid the monthly instalment since eight years, the loan amount including interest had grown up to Rs. 79,71,306.

Meanwhile, the couple, after making some changes in the property documents, had pledged the same documents at Surabhi Souharda Credit Co-operative Bank at Banashankari in Bengaluru and had obtained loan there too.

The cheating came to light after the Co-operative Bank issued a notice to the couple, Yogesh has stated in the complaint.
