New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that a nationwide ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ platform — a new autonomous body for youth and youth-led development, will be launched on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary tomorrow (Oct. 31).
Underlining how youths can play active roles in nation-building through this platform, Modi appealed to the youths to register on https://www.mybharat.gov.in/
Addressing the nation yesterday in the 106th episode of his monthly flagship radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the PM said the foundation of a nationwide platform is being laid on Oct. 31 on the birth anniversary of Sardar Saheb.
“MY Bharat will provide an opportunity for the youth of India to play an active role in various nation-building events. This is a unique effort to integrate the youth power of India in building a developed India. Mera Yuva Bharat’s website MY Bharat is also about to be launched,” the PM said.
The development comes a week after the Union Cabinet, about a fortnight ago, had announced that the Government would set up a platform aimed at developing leadership skills among youths to make them social innovators and leaders in the communities while noting that youths in the age group of 15 to 29 years could avail the benefits of the platform, that would strive towards youth and youth-led development.
Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of a platform for youth, “Mera Yuva Bharat” or MY Bharat, a phygital mechanism to connect youth across the country with appropriate government, private and NGO schemes for volunteering opportunities.
All youth-related schemes by the Government will be listed on the platform and it will “improve the efficiency of service delivery of the Government,” a press release said. It will be a “one-stop platform … to engage with the youth”, the release said, adding that through this platform, “a centralised youth database can be created, which can be used in the national interest.”
MY Bharat platform will help fulfil the voluntary community participation aspect of the National Education Policy, 2020. The platform will also list opportunities for youth parliament, and national and international exchange programmes. While Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan is only for rural youths, MY Bharat is for all youths across rural, semi-urban, urban, national and international areas.
