PM Modi calls to celebrate ‘Poshan Maah’ in September

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly radio address ‘Mann ki Baat,’ has urged the people to focus on malnutrition and celebrate the month of September as ‘Poshan Maah’.

“Many creative and diverse efforts are being made all over the country against malnutrition. The month of September is dedicated to festivals as well as a big campaign related to nutrition. We celebrate the Poshan Maah every year from the Sept. 1 to 30,” the PM said.

Poshan Abhiyaan is the Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers by leveraging technology, a targeted approach and convergence.

Poshan Abhiyaan is not a programme but a Jan Andolan and Bhagidaari, meaning “People’s Movement.” This programme incorporates inclusive participation of public representatives of local bodies, Government Departments of the State, social organisations and the public and private sector at large.
