FIR against ex-MP at T. Narasipur
Mysuru: Former MP Prathap Simha has accused Home Minister Priyank Kharge of exerting pressure on the T. Narasipur Police and getting a false FIR registered against him.
Speaking during the Ganesha idol immersion procession in Mysuru yesterday, Simha said, Inspector Dhananjaya had provoked the Hindus by using unacceptable language, but instead of taking action against the Inspector, the top brass of the Police, allegedly under pressure from the Home Minister, registered an FIR against him.
“Inspector Dhananjaya used provocative and derogatory language. Yet, instead of taking action against him, the Police, under the pressure of Home Minister Priyank Kharge, filed an FIR against me. This is unjust. I only responded to the Inspector’s remarks in front of the mosque. When he questioned the youth who installed the Ganesha idol, I gave a fitting reply. That was my only response to his provocation,” he said.
Prathap Simha said, Mysuru has many capable Police officers whom he respects deeply, but criticised Inspector Dhananjaya, saying he was unworthy of the force.
He further alleged that senior Police officers, including the IGP, SP and Dy.SP had also succumbed to pressure from the Home Minister and registered the case against him.
“This is the 22nd FIR against me. So far, 21 FIRs have been filed. I will challenge this in Court and I am confident that justice will prevail,” Simha said.
Taking an indirect dig at Congress leaders, he said: “I have not taken commissions, nor have I illegally acquired sites in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). Unlike them, I did not enter politics by using my father’s name. Do not look at me as a politician. I am a journalist. Journalists understand the Constitution very well.”
Notice to be issued: SP
“In connection with the FIR registered against former MP Prathap Simha at the T. Narasipur Police Station, a notice will first be served on him. He will then be questioned, following which further legal action will be taken,” said Mysuru Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjun Baladandi.
