Police complaint lodged against miscreants demanding ‘hafta’

Mysuru:  A driver, ferrying passengers to and from H.D. Kote, has lodged a complaint with K.R. Police, alleging that a group of miscreants were demanding hafta besides threatening to burn down his vehicle if he failed to give the same.

According to the complaint lodged by driver Raju, when he was dropping passengers from H.D. Kote near the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and while picking up passengers to H.D. Kote, a group of five persons including Samiulla, Swamy, Gunda and Kumar demanded Raju to pay Rs.300 hafta daily failing which he would not be allowed to drop or pick-up passengers from the place besides demanding Rs.300 hafta daily from about 40 vehicles.

Raju has further stated in the complaint that on Jan.1 when he was ferrying passengers, the group of five persons, waylaid his vehicle and threatened of burning his vehicle, if he fails to give hafta.
